Once our surveys are fully worked up in the CAD system using the site co-ordinates, dimensions and the Graphic commands, the data is passed to our plotters for the production of paper or film plots. All surveys are then thoroughly checked for content and quality on site and in our offices by a senior member of staff. The final production stage is to arrange the correct format and media for delivery of drawings and digital data to the Client. Back to Top
As well as the conventional 2D drawings the CAD facility enables us to offer additional information not possible on a conventional plan; 3D computer models for detail design, ‘walk throughs’ and visualisation; data collection for Facilities Management and Geographic Information Systems. Output data can be in a wide variety of formats using translation software developed by the company. Data structure and layering can be to BS1192 Pt.5 or to any other standards or tailored to your own specific requirements. Our Computer Systems Director, Richard Hart, was Chairman of the Mapping and Geographic SIG of the Autodesk User Group and served on another Special Interest Group making recommendations to BSI for BS1192 Pt.5. Should you require further details of our CAD facilities or wish to visit our offices for an In-house demonstration of modern Surveying Techniques please do not hesitate to contact Richard Hart. We are able to supplement topographical surveys with underground services surveys to plot the route and depth of all underground pipes and cables. Accuracy in the horizontal location of electronically traced cable and pipe routes are expressed as ± 10% of the actual depth, while accuracies in depth are expressed as ± 20% of the actual depth. Electronic detection techniques will be used in the location of underground services. The results are not infallible and trial excavations must be carried out to confirm service identification, positions and particularly depths. Although all reasonable effort will be made in searching all available records, the completeness of the underground services survey cannot be guaranteed. It is not possible to trace non metallic service routes, in the case of such services being present on site we will survey any visible trench scars and refer to existing records. Such detail will be suitably annotated to differentiate between survey information and record details. Back to Top
