WHAT
TO LOOK FOR
IN CAD DATA FILES
Feel free to play with the
drawings, it sounds a bit light hearted but by zooming in
and panning you can
 | Look at the quality of the linework,
look for lines joining in a proper L or T shape. |
 | Look at the construction of the
features, are pillars and columns square to the
wall line? |
 | Look at the Street Furniture, is it
drawn to scale? or do you get a X symbol? |
 | Zoom in close, many files look OK
when plotted but beware, unless features are
constructed properly you may get inconsistent
results when using the data. |
By playing with the layers
you can see how well the layering is implemented,
 | You should not loose any walls when
you turn the doors off for example. |
 | Turn ON single layers in turn, look
for obvious gaps |
 | Can you turn off all the text to
produce plans a different sizes? |
